How To Reverse Damage Done To Our Hair And Skin During The Summer

Summer is finally here! July is the month when Summer vacations are happening, we are letting our hair down, relaxing soaking up the sun, swimming, enjoying outdoor activities, cookouts etc.

The thing is, we neglect our hair and skin during this time. We are very laid back when it comes to protecting our hair, skin and nails.

This month we want to talk about having a skin analysis. How we maintain our hair and skin in the winter is different from the summer. We often think why do we have to cleanse, moisturize or protect our skin in the Summer it’s hot & muggy how can this hurt me. The sun’s UV rays can be harmful to anyone’s skin, we are exposed to more environmental toxicities and more. These factors can wreak havoc on our skin. Some African Americans think we are exempt from UV rays because of our natural layer of protection of our deeper skin colors, this is far from the truth.

Why is a skin analysis important?

It’s all about diving deep into your skin history so we can provide the most realistic appraisal of your entirely individual skin story. Your skin story is different from mine, your mom or your best friends. You truly are unique, so our information gathering includes a detailed questionnaire and the use of technology such as face imaging and woods lamp diagnosis. These tools enable us to present you with a comprehensive skin fitness plan and the best education that is specific and relevant to you, your skin and your overall wellness.

How often should you get a skin analysis?

Seasonally is most ideal! If you’re serious about your skin health, having a skin analysis every 3-4 months ensures you can re adjust your skin program as necessary – stressful life events (or just ongoing chronic stress), environmental exposures (think relative humidity, holidays, outdoor activities) changes in food/liquid choices, exercise choices and many other lifestyle factors will all contribute to internal cell changes. Internal changes eventually progress into external, visual changes. Your skin is a dynamic, constantly changing organ who’s nutrient requirements also change over the year. Keeping on top of these changes ensures you’re keeping your skin in the best health possible… and this is what gives you that gorgeous skin glow!
